Muisca Culture Tour
Highlights
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Tunja to make our way towards Hunzahua Well, a sacred site for the ancient Hunza people, who inhabited one of the primary cities of the Muisca civilization in pre-Columbian times.
Following our exploration of the well's origins, we'll continue to the Los Cojines del Zaque Archaeological Park. This ancient Muisca sanctuary served as an astronomical study center and an offering site. We'll then delve into the history of the symbolically significant Loma de los Ahorcados.
Our next stop is Moyas de San Ricardo, where we'll explore the remnants of an ancient Muisca planetarium. Following this, our journey will lead us to observe a selection of pictograms along the Farfacá River. Additionally, we'll make stops to appreciate the Muisca culture-themed murals scattered throughout Tunja.
Then, we'll head to a downtown Tunja restaurant to enjoy a traditional Boyacá lunch comprising of an appetizer, a choice of meat or fish for the main course, and a beverage. As we savor our meal and refuel, we'll also delve into some of the gastronomic traditions of the Muisca people.
With full bellies and a great taste in our mouths, we'll make our way back to Tunja, approximately 7 hours after pickup.
