Travel back in time to the origins of the Moche civilisation, one of the oldest in America, on this tour of the temples of the Sun and the Moon.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Jiron Orbegoso Street. Once we're all gathered, we'll head towards the Moche countryside to see the structures that belonged to the Moche culture.
Once we arrive at the site, we'll be able to see the enormous walls of the Temple of the Sun and not far away we'll see the great Temple of the Moon.
We'll be able to enter these imposing constructions and we'll walk through their different levels admiring the beautiful colours of their walls that still preserve paintings with warrior and religious motifs. We'll see paintings that display the rites and ceremonies that the Mochicas practised, such as the human sacrifices they made in the central square of the temple.
During the tour, you'll see the effects of the erosion of the temples due to the winds and rains. While admiring the Temple of the Sun we'll learn about the history of the illegal looters who plundered these constructions without control.
After an hour and a half of exploring these fascinating constructions, we'll head to the village of Huaca Chica, where you'll have two hours of free time to enjoy a meal in a local restaurant.
With your batteries recharged and after visiting Huaca Chica, we'll make our way back to the Plaza de Armas in Trujillo and say our goodbyes approximately 4 hours after the start of the tour.
Partial Closures
The Huaca del Sol is closed until further notice, so it will only be visible from a distance.
