Sun + Moon Pyramids, Huanchaco & Chan Chan Tour
Tour Details
We'll meet at the indicated time at the Plaza de Armas in Trujillo, and from there we'll head towards the archaeological site of the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, Huanchaco and the citadel of Chan Chan. Let's go!
Firstly, we'll make a stop at Huaca Arco Iris and Huaca Esmeralda. After visiting these ancient huacas, or sanctuaries, we'll visit the ancient citadel of Chan Chan, built by the Chimú culture. Presently, this great compound has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it makes up one of the biggest adobe cities in America. On this tour of this architectural masterpiece, we'll also explore the Palace of Nik An.
Next, we'll head over to Huanchaco, where you'll have some free time to have lunch. After eating, we'll visit the Museum Huaca de Moche and make our way to the archaeological site featuring the Sun and Moon Pyramids. Walking alongside the remains of these ancient sanctuaries, we'll get to know what society was like in the Trujillo Valley during the pre-Columbian Moche era.
Finally, we'll head to the starting point after approximately 8 hours of activity.
