Private Excursion from Trinidad
Private Excursion from Trinidad
If you're staying a few days in Trinidad, don't miss the opportunity to visit some of the most important places around the city with a private excursion! All of them include hotel pickup and drop off, transportation by bus or minibus, and an English-speaking guide just for your group. You'll find details about the various itineraries below:
Ibare-Mamoré Protected Area Tour
We'll start at 8 am and head towards Puerto Ballivián, the gateway to the Ibare-Mamoré Municipal Protected Area. Did you know that it's one of the most important natural areas in Bolivia?
Once in Puerto Ballivián, we'll take a boat and sail for 2.5 hours on the Ibare River, until we reach the point where the river collides with the Mamoré River. Along the way, we'll make stops to visit the town of Loma Suarez and the community of San Carlos.
After the boat ride, we'll take a walk among the tropical plant crops and see the fauna of this Amazonian ecosystem up close. We'll see cocoi herons, jabirus, and yellow-spotted river turtles!
At the end of the walking tour, we'll embark again to sail to the mouth of the Mamoré River. Here, we'll stop to observe the famous Amazon river dolphins, aka pink river dolphins, and swim in the river's warm waters!
We'll finish the excursion by dropping you back off at your hotel at 4 pm.
Jesuit Missions of Moxos + Coitarama Lagoon
At 6 am, we'll pick you up to go to San Javier and San Pedro, two of the ancient reductions founded by the Jesuits in the province of Moxos, in southern Bolivia.
First, we'll head to San Javier, one of the first Jesuit missions in Moxos. We'll visit its church and learn about the history of the colony. Then, we'll continue the excursion to the San Pedro reductions. Did you know that its church was restored from the ruins of the old mission? At this place, we'll leave you free time to have lunch on your own.
After lunch, we'll continue our tour to the Coitarama Lagoon. There, we'll discover the fauna that inhabits its shores: insects, endemic birds, various mammals... If weather conditions don't allow access to the lagoon, we'll go to the banks of the Ipuru River, where you can observe the buffaloes or freshwater dolphins swimming.
We'll finish the tour leaving you at your hotel around 6 pm.
San Ignacio de Moxos Excursion
At 6 am, we'll start this excursion and head to San Ignacio de Moxos to tour this former Jesuit colony.
First, we'll visit the Museum of Moxos to learn about the most representative folklore of the province. Then, we'll continue with the Musical Archive of Moxos, an institution of great importance in the town that houses unique objects, such as scores of works from the 18th century. We'll also see the interior of the church of San Ignacio, built by the Jesuits after their arrival in Moxos.
You'll then have free time for lunch on your own. Afterwards, we'll visit a luthier's workshop to see how musical instruments are made. Then, we'll end the excursion at the School of Music, which has its own choir and orchestra.
We'll drop you off at your hotel in Trinidad in the late afternoon.
