Gran Mojos Birdwatching Activity
Gran Mojos Birdwatching Activity
At 5 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Trinidad and set off in our jeep. We'll head towards the municipality of Loreto, which is 25 miles (40 kilometres) away.
When we get there, we'll head into the Gran Mojos Protected Area Visitor Centre so we can start learning about the endangered species and Indigenous communities that live in this area.
Afterwards, we'll have breakfast and leave for a local hacienda to try and spot some blue-throated macaws. These birds are endemic to the Moxos plains and, according to ornithologists, only 250 of these birds remain in the wild.
We'll then return to Loreto to have some fish and fruit for lunch before heading back to Trinidad. You'll be dropped off at your hotel at around 1 pm.
3-Day Tour
If you choose this option, you'll spend 2 days discovering the protected wildlife of this region. The first day will be the same as the one described in the previous section.
On the second day you'll also be picked up at 5 am from your hotel in Trinidad. We'll head towards another hacienda where you'll observe the multicoloured thrushes. Afterwards, we'll have lunch and return to Trinidad while trying to spot different bird species on the way back.
Our third day will begin at 5 am when we pick you up from your hotel. We'll explore the Ibare-Mamoré municipal protected area, which is also home to different species of birds and mammals such as freshwater dolphins. At the end of the tour, we'll return to Trinidad and drop you off at your accommodation at around 3 pm.
