In this guided walking tour of the salt flats of Torrevieja, we'll discover the pink lagoons of one of the largest salt flats in Europe.

Description

At the designated time, we'll meet at the entrance of the Torrevieja salt flats and start a walking tour among salt pyramids and pink lagoons.

For two hours, we'll explore part of the Lagunas de la Mata & Torrevieja Natural Park, a protected area of which we'll cover almost 4 kilometers (2.5 miles). On this tour, we'll observe a picturesque landscape full of mounds of salt bathed by pink waters.

We'll tell you about the process carried out in the salt mines of Torrevieja to treat the huge tons of salt that are extracted from these lagoons, a process that has been done since Roman times. We'll also discuss the reasons for the lagoons' peculiar and striking pink tone.

The guided tour of the Torrevieja salt flats will finish at the starting point after a total of 2 hours.

We found this tour very interesting and it blew away some myths about the different salt we buy in our supermarkets. Our guide was great. She was funny and took the time to explain things to us. It was a really enjoyable time. Its also very beautiful looking at some of the views over the salt lakes, with lovely reflections. We took some good photos. Thank you.
