Free Walking Tour of Torremolinos
Free Walking Tour of Torremolinos
At the scheduled time, we'll meet in the Plaza de la Nogalera Square and set off on our free walking tour of Torremolinos. Let's start exploring the history and main monuments of this city in Malaga!
Firstly, we'll make our way towards Calle San Miguel, where we'll be told about the street's crucial role in the promotion of tourism. Here, in times past, celebrities like Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner have enjoyed the sun and freedom that Torremolinos offers. Afterwards, we'll continue towards the Church of San Miguel, and stop in front of the Pimentel Tower, both of which a great symbols of this city. Then we'll make our way towards the Bajondillo, a neighbourhood which has kept the same vibe that it had back in the 60s.
The next stop will be the temporary exhibition at the Centre of Touristic Interpretation, which recounts the most important milestones in the life of Torremolinos, from its early days until now. Then, pass by the Casa Suecia, the Hostal Micaela and the Tim Willoughby Volcano, all of which are bastions for local tourism.
We'll continue the tour around Pasaje del Peligro until we arrive at Casa de las Navajas, an impressive mansion built in a neo-mudéjar style. On our way back to Plaza de la Nogalera Square, we'll soak up the vibrant 60s vibe. We'll learn about soul, funky, rock and twist music, each of which left a profound mark on this time, and then we'll head towards Pueblo Blanco, an iconic spot famous in international cinema.
Finally, after a 2-hour tour, we'll return to the Begoña Passage, where one of the most well-known acts of repression of the LGBTQI+ community occurred, which would leave mark on both the past and present of Torremolinos.
