Comillas & Gaudí Capricho Guided Tour
Comillas & Gaudí Capricho Guided Tour
At the indicated time, we'll meet in front of the Pabellón Municipal La Habana Vieja in Torrelavega. From there, we'll head to Cantabria's western coast, where we'll find the charming town of Comillas.
Our first stop will be the gorgeous Cabezón de la Sal forest, which is famous for its sequoias that tower at a height of over 131 feet (40 metres). After visiting the forest, we'll travel to Comillas, which is considered one of the most beautiful towns on the Cantabrian coast.
We'll take a tour around the monuments in Comillas, which was one of the main tourist destinations for the Spanish aristocracy at the beginning of the 20th century. In addition, we'll visit the former Seminary Mayor, which is now the University of Comillas' headquarters. This historic building is located atop a hill, from which we'll look out at breathtaking views of the Sobrellano Palace.
After visiting the university campus, we'll head to Villa Quijano to visit Gaudí's Capricho, a stunning modernist mansion. We'll see how Antoni Gaudí's remarkable talents and individualised style are reflected in this building, which is decorated with a myriad of details that we'll take the time to observe.
At the end of the visit to Gaudi's Capricho, we'll take a bus tour of Comillas so you can see the Exterminating Angel sculpture and the Tres Caños Fountain. We'll then return to Torrelavega, where we'll arrive after a four-hour excursion.
