Description
At the scheduled time we'll meet at the Tomar train station and begin our tour of this beautiful Portuguese city. Let's go!
First, we'll make our way towards Christ's Convent, one of the most representative monuments of Portugal's architecture. Did you know that UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site? Over the course of around 2 hours, we'll visit this monument and walk around its gardens.
Afterwards, we'll take you to Tomar's historic centre. We'll cross the famous Sepra Pinto Street before arriving at Republic Square. The ground of this area will catch your attention as it is adorned with a mosaic made of black and white diamonds. There, we'll make a short stop to grab something local to eat.
Our tour will then continue around Mata dos Sete Montes, a 39-hectare park that is home to different types of trees, such as judas, oak and olive trees. We'll also see the curious miniature replica of the towers of Christ's Covent.
We'll continue the tour towards the Pegões Aquaduct, which stands at 30 metres (98 feet) in height. This spectacular work, consisting of 180 arches, began being built in 1593, during the reign of Phillip I of Portugal.
The last stop will be at the Castelo do Bode reservoir, which stretches to 60 kilometres (37 miles) between Tomar and the towns of Abrantes, Sardoal and Ferreira do Zêzere. You'll witness one of the most beautiful views of the area!
Finally, we'll say our goodbyes at the starting point where the tour began after 10 or 11 hours together.
