Sumo Fighting Experience
Sumo Fighting Experience
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Yokozuna Tonkatsu Dosukoi Tanaka centre, where we'll take part in a sumo wrestlers' training while we tell you all about this typical Japanese combat.
Sumo is the national sport of Japan, and it involves numerous traditional rituals both before and after the wrestling itself. Learn about the history, movements, training, and tournament, and add a unique experience to your trip to Japan.
You'll learn about the strict routine that the wrestlers must stick to, and get to understand the practices to follow during the training sessions. You'll even learn some basic moves and get to test them out against one of the teachers.
Attending and participating in a sumo training session is the perfect opportunity to learn about the rituals and costumes of Japan's national sport and to admire the daily sacrifices of those who practice it.
After attending the training, we'll head to the restaurant attached to the centre to enjoy an authentic Chanko Nabe lunch. This typical sumo wrestler's meal consists of a hearty stew including rice, meat or fish, potatoes, and vegetables.
We'll finish the activity at the restaurant after 2 hours of experience.
