A World Heritage Site since 1999, Nikko is one of the most beautiful day trips from Tokyo if you find yourself in the Japanese capital. On this tour, we'll explore this incredible natural paradise, discovering its main temples and monuments.
Nikko Private Day Trip
We'll meet at the meeting point in Tokyo and then take the train to Nikko. Please note that this private day trip will be on foot and via public transport. Let's explore the natural paradise that is Nikko!
Once we arrive in Nikko, we'll dive straight into the "Sannai" area, where you can find plenty of temples and sanctuaries constructed completely in harmony with the natural world that surrounds them.
The tour then continues with a visit to Toshogu Shinto Shrine, where we'll find the tomb of the first Shogun from the Tokugawa Clan. Here, we'll also uncover stunning toriis, a five-story pagoda, and three curious images: "Three Monkeys," "The Crying Dragon," and "The Sleeping Cat".
Next, we'll tour the beautiful natural surroundings, including the Taiyuin temple, where the man responsible for the construction of the Toshogu Shinto Shrine is buried.
A day trip to Nikko wouldn't be complete without a visit to its most famous bridge, the Shinkyo Bridge (Sacred Bridge), whose red color contrasts with the green vegetation around it.
Following this visit, you'll have some free time to eat lunch and buy souvenirs before we begin the return journey. Please note that while you can choose to skip lunch, a 30-minute break is required to allow our guide time to rest up before completing the rest of the tour.
Finally, we'll begin our return journey back to Tokyo, arriving 9 hours later.
Meeting Point
Please note that the meeting point will either be Tokyo Station or Asakusa Station, depending on whether you have the Japan Rail Pass.
