Day Trip to Mount Fuji, Lake Ashi, & Kamakura
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the entrance to the HANDS Ginza shop in Tokyo to begin this day trip to Kamakura and Mount Fuji. Let's go!
We'll travel for an hour along Tokyo Bay until we reach our first stop: Kamakura. Once here, we'll visit the famous Tsurugaoka Hachimangū shrine, a spot with over 800 years of history. This temple is dedicated to Hachiman, the guardian divinity of samurai.
The route will continue onto the Kōtoku-in temple, where we'll see the Great Buddha, a majestic bronze statue that has become a symbol of Buddhism in Japan. We'll then head towards Hakone, where we'll hop onto a boat to sail across the tranquil waters of Lake Ashi, and if the weather is on our side, admire the impressive Mount Fuji.
We'll then make our way to the charming village of Oshino Hakkai, located in the vicinity of Mount Fuji. Did you know that its name means Eight Seas? It's famous for its crystal-clear springs, as a result of past eruptions and intense volcanic activity. Here, you'll have some free time to stroll through this picturesque place and try a tasty lunch in the local restaurant Shinobi No Sato Ninja Village.
After eating, we'll go to the 5th Station on Mount Fuji. Lastly, this 11.5-hour day trip will come to an end back at our original meeting point in Tokyo.
Itinerary Adjustments
During the winter season, we'll follow the same morning itinerary described in the previous section. The only difference will be that, after leaving Oshino Hakkai, we'll head to Lake Kawaguchi, where you'll have some free time.
Lastly, we'll stop at the Oishi Park Parking Lot and conclude this 11-hour day trip back at the original meeting point in Tokyo.
