Day Trip to Shkodra
Shkodra Day Trip
At the designated time, we'll meet at the stairs of the Albanian National Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Tirana. From there, we'll travel to Shkodra, the gateway to the Albanian Alps and the cultural capital of Albania.
After a journey of approximately 2 hours, we'll reach our destination. The first place we will see is Rozafa Castle, a fortress steeped in history. We'll explore the ruins of this castle, which was rebuilt by the Venetians and the Ottomans, as well as admiring the beautiful views of the rivers surrounding Shkodra.
Then, we'll reach the city center and stroll through the main streets of Shkodra. Here, you'll have 1 hour of free time to try a dish of delicious Albanian cuisine and grab a bite to eat.
After lunch, we'll continue our tour admiring the Lead Mosque, one of the most important Ottoman structures in the region, before we reach St. Stephen's Cathedral. Did you know that this church was once home to both the Sports Palace and the seat of the Albanian Communist Women's Congress? It has a very interesting history!
Before leaving Shkodra, you'll have 1 hour of free time to explore the corners of this city and buy a souvenir at your own pace. We recommend you visit the Marubi National Museum of Photography and the local artisanal stands.
Finally, we'll begin our journey back to the starting point, where we'll say goodbye 8-9 hours after the trip begins.
