Gloriapata Day Trip
Gloriapata Day Trip
At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Tingo María and drive to the district of Mariano Dámaso Baeraúm. This is where we'll find the Tingo María National Park, a large nature reserve which we'll skirt until we get to the Gloriapata Waterfall.
We'll access this beautiful spot on the right-hand side of the park via a suspension bridge and then set off on a 45-minute walk through the jungle. Along the way, we'll observe the Tres de Mayo micro-watershed. This natural cavity accumulates the rainwater with which the different species that live in this part of the jungle quench their thirst. These species include orchids, medicinal plants, birds, butterflies and more.
Once we've finished our hike, the highlight of our day trip awaits. This would be the 80-foot (25-metre) high waterfall, which forms a large pool of crystal-clear water around it - the perfect place to take a refreshing dip after the hike.
You'll have some free time to have fun and relax in this natural area, as well as going bird watching in the area surrounding the waterfall. If you're lucky, you may see parrots and Andean cock-of-the-rocks, although they tend to appear at sunset.
It'll then be time to stroll back to the minibus, which will take us back to Tingo María. Our arrival back at your hotel is scheduled for 2 pm.
