Peneda-Gerês Villages Tour
Peneda-Gerês Villages Tour
At 9.30 am, we'll meet in Sao Joao Street in Terras do Bouro and start a tour through the villages of the Peneda-Gerês National Park.
Our first stop will be at Ermida or Fafião, where we'll see the traditional mountain constructions and discover the most unusual places in the northwest of Portugal, as well as stopping at some viewpoints to admire the best panoramic views of the region.
Another of the villages we'll visit is Cabril, which houses an old pelourinho and the century-old church of São Lourenço. We'll travel through the Mata de Albergaría, a protected forest where an ancient Roman road was built.
Next destination: Pitões das Júnias, a village located at 1100 meters of altitude famous for the ruins of the Cistercian monastery of Santa Maria das Júnias. There, we'll make a stop so you can refuel at a local restaurant at your own leisure. And we can't leave this village without seeing its imposing 30-meter high waterfall surrounded by vegetation.
During the tour, we'll also visit the interesting granite wall of Fojo do Lobo and the village of Lobios, located right on the border between Orense and Portugal, known for its thermal baths. But that's not all, we'll visit other points of interest such as the lake of Cávado, the plateau of Mourela, Montalegre and its medieval castle.
Lastly, between 4.30 and 5.30 pm, we'll take you back to the starting point of Terras do Bouro, ending the tour.
