Peneda-Gerês National Park Tour
Peneda-Gerês National Park Tour
At 9.30 am, we'll meet at Sao Joao Street in Terras do Bouro. We'll then get into a vehicle and drive through the Peneda-Gerês National Park. Ready to discover this incredible area?
First destination: the Albergaria forest. We'll venture into these woods and admire the lush oak forest which houses trails over 2000 years old. This natural area is home to several rivers such as the Lima, the Homem, or the Cávado and waterfalls such as the Fecha de Barjas or da Rajada. Fancy a dip in its crystal clear waters?
Then, we'll admire the vastness of the area from the viewpoints of Vela, Cilhas, and Rocas. We'll continue to the Geira, the Roman road, which still has bridges, walls, and milestones with carvings dating back to the 4th century. Pay attention, we'll likely have the chance to spot the wild horses that inhabit these lands.
Our next stop will take us to visit the traditional mountain villages of Ermida, Rio Caldo, Campo do Gerês, Vila do Gerês and Fafião, as well as the sanctuary of São Bento da Porta Aberta. Then we'll stop by a local restaurant so that you can buy some lunch if you wish.
Finally, we'll take you back to the starting point between 4.30 and 5.30 pm.
