Discover the flavors of Israel when you take our fantastic food tour of Tel Aviv. We will take you to some of the culinary hotspots of this enchanting city, such as the vibrant Carmel Market, and you will enjoy several delicious tastings!
Tel Aviv Food Tour
Our culinary tour of Tel Aviv begins on Kaufmann Street. From this central point, we then stroll through the narrow streets of the Kerem Ha Teimanim district which is packed full of restaurants specializing in Yemeni Jewish cuisine. Its main dishes here include malawach (unleavened pancakes), meat soups, hummus, and falafel, as well as other traditional recipes.
After learning some fascinating facts about the origins of Yemeni cuisine, we will continue our tour by visiting one of Tel Aviv's busiest shopping malls: Carmel Market. In the stalls here, you will find a wide variety of colorful vegetables, fruits, and spices from all corners of the Middle East. We will try some of these products, and learn how to distinguish between their different varieties, widely used in traditional Israeli recipes.
Due to the mix of ethnic communities that coexist in Israel, you can find dishes that originated in different regions. This is the case, for example, of zaatar: a bread filled with a variety of exotic spices from places such as Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan. We will also sweeten our palates with a tasting of delicious semolina paste dessert called halva. You will also try Dolmas, of Turkish origin, which are rolls of vine leaf filled with a careful combination of rice, meat, nuts, and other ingredients.
We finish our tour of Carmel Market with a delicious glass of freshly squeezed fruit juice, and then you are free to return to the stalls which you enjoyed the most.
