Travel more than 2000 years back in time and discover one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World on this 1 or 2-day trip to Petra. You can return to Tel Aviv on the same day or spend the night at this impressive archaeological site.

Description

Day1: Tel Aviv - Petra

At the scheduled time, we'll collect you from the Dan Panorama Hotel in Tel Aviv to begin this excursion to Petra. The journey between Israel and Jordan along the highway will take around 5 hours, but it'll be 100% worth it. One of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World is waiting for us!

We'll traverse the Siq Gorge and the ancient Nabataean capital as it opens up right before our very eyes and whose origin dates back around 2300 years.

During our tour of Petra, we'll discover who exactly the Nabataeans were and what their relationships with the Romans were like. We'll learn about their beliefs and traditions while we visit the most iconic structures there, like the Petra Treasury, the theatre, the Royal Tomb and some strange stone monuments known as Djinn Blocks.

Next, we'll make our way to a local restaurant for a bite to eat and then bring the day to an end at a nearby hotel in Wadi Musa. There, we'll rest until the following day.

Day 2: Petra - Tel Aviv

On the second day, we'll have breakfast in the hotel and then make our way back to Petra, where you'll have the rest of the day to yourself to keep exploring the archaeological site. You can take advantage of this free time to explore some of the sites you found interesting the day before but that we didn't have ample to explore in depth.

The Petra Monastery, which dates back to the 1st century, the columned street and the Great Temple, built as a large royal reception room, are just some of the iconic spaces that await us. You'll be truly surprised by the mastery with which many of these Petra monuments were constructed, carved out of huge reddish-coloured rocks. It's from this that the Rose City nickname was coined. Interesting right?

Finally, at around 4:30 pm, we'll hop back on our bus and begin our journey back to Israel. We'll drop you back at the meeting point in Tel Aviv close to midnight.

Accommodation

This tour includes a night of accommodation with breakfast at the 3-star Venus Hotel Petra or at the 4-star Sella Hotel Petra, whichever you'd prefer. In both cases, the accommodation is fitted with double beds in the town of Wadi Musa. In the case of there being availability in either of these hotels, we'll stay at hotels similar to both chosen categories.

1-Day Trip to Petra

Would you prefer a shorter duration trip? If yes, book the 1-day trip to Petra, a more intense tour but one that will return you to Tel Aviv between midnight and around 1 am. Admission to the archaeological site, a guide and lunch are all included.
