The Lord of the Rings Tour

At the appointed time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Te Anau to begin a tour of Middle-earth, the world created by famed author J. R. R. Tolkien. Ready to check out the set locations of The Lord of the Rings?

First, we'll approach Lake Te Anau, the perfect place to start marveling at the landscapes we're about to discover. From here, we'll head to the Te Anau Bird Sanctuary, where we'll see the country's rarest species, such as the takahe and the kaka.

After this contact with the nature of Te Anau, we'll enter the world of The Lord of the Rings and check out set locations chosen by Peter Jackson's team to film the most famous scenes of the epic saga. We'll stop at the Dead Marshes viewpoint, where Frodo and Sam were during their journey to Mordor.

Another place we'll visit is Rainbow Reach, a cable bridge over the mighty Anduin River. We'll also explore the forest of Fiordland National Park, which is featured numerous times in the Lord of the Rings films - keep your eyes peeled for orcs!

We'll continue the tour in one of the most famous lakes in New Zealand, the Manapouri. Remember Rivendell? This was the setting of this magical world! To complete the tour, we'll visit Mavora Lakes, the setting of some emblematic moments of the saga, such as Boromir's death after a battle against the orcs in The Fellowship of the Ring.

Finally, we'll return to your hotel in Te Anau and the tour will conclude after five hours of sightseeing.
