Prometheus Cave + Motsameta & Gelati Monasteries Tour
Prometheus Cave + Motsameta & Gelati Monasteries Tour
We'll meet on Kote Abkhazi street at the indicated time and head to the famous Prometheus cave. Did you know that this natural formation remained hidden until 1984? The journey to this karstic cave will take us three and a half hours.
Accompanied by the guide, we'll walk through the cave along a path of just over a kilometre. We'll walk between large stone halls, seeing the stalagmites and stalactites and the underground river that runs through the different rooms.
When we leave, we'll go to a village to stop for lunch at approximately 1 pm.
Back on the bus, we'll visit the Motsameta and Gelati Monasteries and discover royal tombs, several churches, walls and enjoy the incredible views of the landscapes in which they are located.
We'll also learn the stories regarding the origins of these buildings. A hint: two brothers and a lion are the protagonists of one of the most popular legends in the area. We'll dedicate between 30 and 40 minutes to each monastery.
The tour will end as we return to Tbilisi. After a 4 hour journey, we'll drop you off at the initial meeting point after a total of 13 hours.
