Kakheti Guided Tour & Wine Tasting
Kakheti Guided Tour & Wine Tasting
Having met up in Tbilisi on the morning of the tour, we'll leave the Georgian capital behind us as we head east to the region of Kakheti, famous for its extensive vineyards.
After an hour's drive, we'll make our first stop in a picturesque town to enjoy a baking masterclass and learn to make Georgian bread. Of course, we'll get to taste it too - the perfect start to our tour!
We'll then continue onwards to the Monastery of St Nino at Bodbe. Originally built in the 9th century, this is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Georgia, and is home to the tomb of St Nino, the saint said to have converted the Georgian people to Christianity in the 4th century. The monastery also offers breathtaking views over the Alazani Valley and the snow-capped Caucasus Mountains.
Our next stop will be in the charming town of Signagi, located on top of a hill. It is one of the most beautiful towns in the country and you'll have free time to discover it for yourself. Walk through its cobbled streets and enjoy more spectacular views of the Alazani Valley and the Caucasus peaks beyond, or you could choose to visit the Pirosmanishvili Museum, dedicated to famous Georgian artist Nico Pirosmanishvili.
After visiting Signagi, we'll take you to a local wine cellar, where we'll have the chance to taste seven different Georgian wines and learn about their production process in Kakheti. What's more, we'll get to taste chacha, a typical local vodka, and learn a traditional toast! Afterwards, you'll have around half an hour of free time to eat lunch here.
At the end of the trip we'll take you back to Tbilisi, arriving around 6:30 pm.
