See two of Georgia's most beautiful and symbolic monuments with this Borjomi, Vardzia & Rabati Castle Day Trip. You'll visit the monastery caves, and wander through the charming town.
Day Trip Details
We'll meet on Kote Abkhazi Street in Tbilisi at the designated time and board the bus to head west to the Vardzia Monastery. The journey will take approximately 3 hours.
Located in the town of Ajaltsije, this building surprises its visitors with its curious cultural mix. A church, a mosque and a synagogue are part of its seven hectares of extension.
After an hour's visit, we'll get back on the bus and go to Vardzia. As soon as you arrive you'll be captivated by the many caves that make up this place of worship. The monastery was built with a marked defensive character due to its proximity to Turkey. We'll tour the complex for an hour and a half discovering its many secrets, and admiring the frescoes in its church.
On the way to the point on the tour, we'll stop so that you can have lunch in a small village.
Then, we'll start to see the mountains and green slopes of the Borjomi Nature Reserve. The tour will take us to discover why the waters of its springs are so precious and you'll even have the chance to taste them! We'll also walk through the streets of this small town and see the Romanovs summer palace.
The tour will end arriving at the starting point in Tbilisi at approximately 10 pm.
Itinerary Adjustments
Until March 2025, Rabati Castle cannot be visited due to a lighting issue. During these months, we'll dedicate some more time to exploring Borjomi and Vardzia.
