Taxco Churches Tour
Taxco Churches Tour
We'll meet at the indicated time on Calle Benito Juarez. There, we'll begin a tour of the main temples of Taxco, entering each one to discover the history and symbolism they hide. The perfect plan for art lovers!
The first stop will be at Templo de Veracruz, a 19th-century temple built in honor of Santo Cristo de la Veracruz, one of the most venerated symbols in Taxco. Did you know that this image is known by the name of "El General"?
We'll continue through the streets of Taxco to the Parish Church of San Miguel Arcángel. This church, one of the oldest in the city, dates all the way back to the 16th century and was originally dedicated to San Sebastián. We'll also visit the Chapel of San Nicolás, the patron saint of Taxco. Fun fact: on the feast day of this saint, bread rolls are given out to commemorate his miracles!
The tour then continues to the Temple of the Holy Trinity and the Temple of Chavarrieta, the latter of which is considered one of the most beautiful sacred buildings in the region! Before ending the tour, we'll also make a stop at the former Convent of San Bernardino de Siena, which features the largest number of images of important saints in the city.
To put the finishing touch on the tour, we'll enter the Church of Santa Prisca, a colonial monument and a true symbol of Taxco. Finally, after a total of 3 hours, we'll end the tour by saying goodbye in front of this popular temple.
