Day 1: Tashkent
At 9 am we'll pick you up from your hotel, the airport or the Tashkent train station to start this 6 day private tour to discover the main cities of Uzbekistan.
First, we'll take a guided tour of Tashkent to see the contrast between the old city and the more modern part. We'll pass by Amir Temur Square, the Alisher Navoi Theatre, the Hast Imam complex and the Kukaldash Madrasa. We'll also stop at the Orthodox and Catholic churches and the Museum of Applied Arts. Afterwards, we'll go to the hotel to rest.
Day 2: Urgench - Khiva
We'll have an early breakfast before leaving the hotel and heading to Tashkent airport. Here we'll take a 2 hour flight to Urgench. Your driver will be waiting for you on arrival to take you to Khiva, 35 kilometres away.
After checking in at the hotel, we will take a tour of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Itchan-Kala Fortress. You'll admire its beautiful madrasas, mosques and palaces, as well as the colourful minaret of Kalta-Minor and the majestic mausoleum of Pakhlavan Mahmoud. Overnight in a hotel in Khiva.
Day 3: Khiva - Bukhara
If the 3rd day falls on Tuesday, Friday or Saturday, after breakfast we'll take you to Khiva station, where we'll take the train to Bukhara. If it's any other day, we'll travel there by car. Once in Bukhara, we'll check into the hotel and you'll have the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 4: Bukhara
After breakfast to recharge your batteries, we'll start a panoramic tour of Bukhara, considered the Pillar of Islam. We'll see the mausoleum of the founder of the Samanid Empire Ismail Samani, the Bolo Hauz Mosque and the imposing fortress of the Arq of Bukhara.
We'll also pass through the Poi Kalyan complex, which houses outstanding monuments such as the Miri Arab, Ulugbek and Abdulaziz-Khan madrasas. We'll pass through Lyab-i-Hauz, the social centre of Bukhara life, and attend a traditional Uzbek cooking class. Afterwards, return to the hotel.
Day 5: Samarkand
On the penultimate day we'll have breakfast and drive to Samarkand, the second largest city in Uzbekistan.
The journey will take between 4 and 5 hours, stopping to visit the palace of Sitori-i-Mokhi Khosa, residence of the emir of Bukhara, and another to see the traditional pottery craftsmen of Gijduvan. Finally, we'll arrive in Samarkand and settle into the hotel.
Day 6: Samarkand - Tashkent
We'll spend the morning of the last day exploring Samarkand. We'll take in several centuries of Uzbek history at the mausoleum of Amir Guri, Registan Square and its three madrasas from the 15th and 17th centuries, the Zindah necropolis and the Bibi Khanum Mosque. Did you know that it is the largest mosque in Central Asia?
After the visit, we'll accompany you to the railway station to take the Afrosiyob, the high-speed train that will take you back to Tashkent. A driver will be waiting for you at your destination station to take you to your hotel or to the airport, where your 6-day tour of Uzbekistan will come to an end.
