At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Tashkent and head to the train station, where you'll take a train to Samarkand on your own.
Upon arrival in this fascinating Uzbek city, you'll meet your guide at the station. From there, we'll embark on an unforgettable tour of Samarkand, the fascinating city in which the stories of The Thousand and One Nights are set.
The first stop will be at the mausoleum of Gur Emir, a masterpiece of medieval Islamic architecture, where the remains of the Asian conqueror Tamerlane lie. After learning about its history, we'll continue the route to Registan Square, which dates back to the time of the Timurid dynasty.
In this great esplanade we'll visit the Sher-Dor Madrasa, declared a World Heritage Site, and the Ulugbek Madrasa. We'll also visit the Tillya Kori Madrasa, whose spectacular architecture is sure to surprise you.
Next, we'll visit the impressive Bibi Khanym Mosque, which in the 15th century was one of the largest mosques in the Islamic world. Afterward, we'll continue our tour of Samarkand at the Shah-i-Zinda necropolis, a complex of mausoleums dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries.
After visiting this monumental complex, we'll take a break at a local restaurant to enjoy a delicious Uzbek lunch at your own pace. After lunch, we'll go to Siyob Bazaar, the largest bazaar in Samarkand, where you'll have about an hour of free time to shop for souvenirs.
Finally, we'll take you to Samarkand railway station, where you'll take the train back to Tashkent on your own. We'll be waiting for you at the station of the Uzbek capital and, from there, we'll take you back to your hotel, where you'll arrive 12 and 14 hours after pickup.
