Mantaro Valley Tour
Description
Meet us at Plaza de Armas in Tarma at the scheduled time. From there, we'll kick off our tour of the Mantaro Valley, embarking on our journey to explore the captivating destinations of Jauja, Concepción, and Huancayo!
As we progress on our tour, we'll relish the breathtaking landscapes surrounding Tarma. Our journey will include a pause at the Carhuacatac viewpoint, a natural vantage point 200 meters (658 feet) above sea level. Here, you'll be treated to one of the most spectacular views of Tarma, perfect for capturing memorable photos. Following this brief stop, we'll resume our exploration of Jauja, one of Peru's esteemed historical capitals.
Before reaching our destination, we'll make a delightful detour to the picturesque Paca Lagoon, nestled amidst the stunning Eastern Cordillera. As we approach Jauja, we'll explore the city's key attractions, including the enchanting Plaza de Armas, the Matriz Church, and the Chapel of Cristo Pobre, whose design was inspired by the renowned Notre Dame de Paris.
Our journey proceeds to Concepción, where we can explore the Convent of Santa Rosa de Ocopa, founded in 1725. This historical site is revered for its cultural and artistic significance, with its interior preserving a wealth of historic treasures.
Next, we'll make our way to Ingenio, a unique gem in the Mantaro Valley. Here, not only will we be treated to stunning landscapes, but we'll also have the opportunity to visit a trout farm. While in Ingenio, we'll enjoy a traditional lunch at a local restaurant, allowing us to savor the region's flavors.
Recharged and invigorated, we'll move on to San Jerónimo de Tunán, renowned for its gold and silver craftsmanship. Here, we'll have the chance to observe the meticulous process of working with these precious metals, creating delicate gold and silver pieces using the filigree technique.
The last stop on our journey is a visit to Huancayo, a city of great significance in the Mantaro Valley. There, we'll explore notable landmarks such as the Cathedral, the Huanca Identity Park, and the Cerrito de la Libertad, each of which holds its own unique charm.
Finally, after touring the Mantaro Valley completely, we'll drop you off at the meeting point, about 12 hours later.
