What's in store:
Our adventure begins as we gather at Tarma's Plaza de Armas at the scheduled time, kicking off our excursion to Pozuzo—a charming Peruvian village with a distinct German influence. Are you prepared to explore this slice of Germany in the midst of the Peruvian rainforest? Let's get started!
We'll travel comfortably in a minibus through the Yanagacha Chemillen National Park, providing the perfect opportunity to immerse ourselves in the diverse flora and fauna of the Oxapampa jungle. Along the way, we'll encounter the impressive Rayantambo and Yulitunki waterfalls—two majestic cascades that will undoubtedly leave you in awe.
Upon our arrival in Pozuzo, a guided tour will lead us through the town, unveiling its unique character. Founded in the mid-19th century by German and Austrian settlers on land granted by the Peruvian government, Pozuzo boasts a distinctive European feel, evident in its architecture, colors, and iconic gable roofs.
Strolling through Pozuzo, you'll notice store names that will transport you straight to Germany or Austria! Our exploration will also include visits to the Settlers' Cemetery, the Schaferer Museum, and a replica of the Norton Ship.
Feeling hungry? You'll have an hour of free time to grab some lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, we'll reconvene and embark on our return journey to Tarma.
