Venture into the Chanchamayo Valley on this excursion from Tarma. Imposing waterfalls, the village of La Merced, and a visit to an Ashaninka community await.

Description

We'll meet at Plaza de Armas de Tarma at the indicated time to begin a fascinating journey that'll take us to explore the nature of the Chanchamayo Valley.

First, we'll cross the small towns of Acobamba and Palca. Along the way, we'll see how the landscape changes as we make our way through the Chanchamayo Valley, home to numerous species of orchids and butterflies. Did you know that it's the gateway to the Peruvian Amazon?

Upon arrival, we'll get off the minibus and embark on a hike through the jungle to visit the main attractions of the area, such as the El Cabello del Angel waterfalls and the Ducha del Diablo (Devil's Shower). We'll then cross the Túnel de la Virgen and reach San Ramón, an important town nestled between the Tarma and Tulumayo rivers.

The next stop will be at El Tirol waterfall, a perfect place to take photographs and continue discovering the wild flora and fauna. From there, we'll head to La Merced, another of the most important towns in the Chanchamayo Valley.

We'll enjoy the panoramic view of the Indio Dormido (Sleeping Indian) and cross the Reither Bridge into the city. There you'll have an hour of free time to refuel in a restaurant in La Merced. Afterwards, we'll visit an Asháninka native community, where we'll learn about the ancestral customs of this Amazonian tribe.

Finally, we'll see a coffee processor to learn all about this precious product, the finishing touch to the excursion!

We'll finish the tour by arriving at the starting point in Tarma after a 10 hour tour.
