Tarija Stargazing Activity
At 7 pm, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Tarija. From there, we'll board a comfortable minibus and head to the National Astronomical Observatory of Santa Ana, an important Bolivian institution.
Did you know that this is where the official time of the whole country is broadcast? In its facilities, we'll find photographic laboratories, workshops and, of course, telescopes. To get started, we'll take a tour of the observatory and learn about the instruments used to observe planets, satellites and stars and their different functions. In addition, the staff will use laser pointers to show us where each planet is in the sky.
Your turn! You'll get to look through the telescope and try to spot the brightest stars in the sky, such as Alpha Centauri, Sirius and Canopus. Keep your eyes peeled for planets such as Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn!
After admiring celestial bodies in the beautiful night sky, we'll go to the audiovisual room to round off our experience with a documentary on astronomy.
We'll then take you back to your hotel in Tarija, where we'll arrive at 10 pm.
