Activity Details

One of the main attractions of Tarifa is the possibility to spot different marine mammals living in the wild. The waters of the Strait of Gibraltar are home to a huge range of sea life, amongst which there are three different species of dolphin: the common dolphin, the striped dolphin and the bottlenose dolphin; and different species of whales like sperm whales, pilot whales and fin whales.

After meeting at Tarifa port, you'll board a boat which will take you to sea for your whale and dolphin watching adventure. During the cruise, you'll be able to observe how these curious creatures near the boat, swim and play alongside it. An unforgettable memory!

What's more, your expert biologist guides will help you to identify the animals in the sea and explain fascinating facts about them.

After two hours of activity, we'll end the experience by saying goodbye at the departure pier.

Ha sido una experiencia maravillosa! El paseo en el barco precioso, ver los cargueros navegando por el estrecho de cerca espectacular. Pero además, hemos visto dos ballenas y muchos delfines, así que, a pesar de no ver orcas, para mi ha sido una experiencia impresionante y que sin duda repetiré y aconsejaría a todo el mundo. Es importante seguir los consejos que os dan, poneos gorra, gafas de sol y protección solar y pastillas para el mareo a los que, como en mi caso, os soléis marear. It has been a wonderful experience! The ride on the beautiful boat, seeing the freighters sailing through the strait up close is spectacular. But also, we have seen two whales and many dolphins, so, despite not seeing orcas, for me it has been an impressive experience and one that I will undoubtedly repeat and recommend to everyone. It is important to follow the advice they give you, wear a hat, sunglasses and sun protection and pills for motion sickness for those of you who, like in my case, tend to get dizzy. Tuvimos mucha suerte, pues al poco de salir del puerto ya vimos el primer grupo de delfines. Durante todo el tiempo que duró la excursión pudimos ver varios grupos de delfín común y calderones super cerca del barco. No llegamos a ver ballenas pero no nos importó.. Fue impresionante. We were very lucky, because shortly after leaving the port we already saw the first group of dolphins. Throughout the duration of the excursion we were able to see several groups of common dolphins and pilot whales super close to the boat. We didn't get to see any whales but we didn't care.. Una experiencia la navegación por el estrecho de Gibraltar. La tripulación es muy atenta y está pendiente de tu comodidad y de explicarte los tipos de cetáceos que se pueden avistar.
