Syracuse and Ortigia Day Trip
At the indicated time we'll meet at the Taormina bus station and board a vehicle that will take us to Syracuse. The journey by road will take about an hour and a half.
The first visit of the excursion will be to the Neapolis Archaeological Park, where we'll stroll through the remains of Greek civilisation. Inside you'll discover a Greek theatre which was considered one of the major entertainment structures of the time. We'll also see a Roman amphitheatre, ruins of altars or temples and even the latomias, ancient stone quarries. It's a real spectacle!
We'll then return to the vehicle and head for Ortigia, the old town of Syracuse. Due to its rich architectural and historical heritage, the whole area has been declared a World Heritage Site.
As you walk around the island of Ortigia, you'll see the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, dating back to the 6th century BC, the Cathedral, the Font of Arethusa and other emblematic sites. Of course, you can make the most of your time in Ortigia to refuel and enjoy its delicious local food. You'll have an hour and a half of free time to do so.
Our day trip will come to an end after 10 hours by dropping you back to the starting point.
