Embark on a journey through the treasures of Baroque art and classical antiquity with our day trip to Syracuse and Noto from Taormina. Explore two of southern Sicily's most enchanting cities.
Tour itinerary: explore Noto and Syracuse
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from the indicated meeting point and set our course for Syracuse. The scenic minibus ride to this corner of southern Sicily will unfold over approximately an hour and a half.
Upon reaching our destination, a guided tour awaits at the archaeological park of Neapolis, a true gem of Syracuse. We'll encounter a Greek theater, a Roman amphitheater, and a temple featuring an altar for sacrifices—a captivating journey through time.
Our exploration continues to the island of Ortigia, linked to Sicily by various bridges and designated a World Heritage Site. As the historical heart of Syracuse, Ortigia holds the city's foundational history. Stroll around its charming streets, including a visit to its cathedral, built upon the structure of an ancient classical Greek temple, where we'll unravel the monument's fascinating history.
Following the guided tour, we'll leave you an hour of free time for lunch at a local restaurant before returning to the minibus for the journey to Noto. Renowned for its myriad Baroque churches, Noto invites us to admire their facades while delving into the connection between these monuments and the earthquake of 1693.
Enjoy approximately two hours of free time exploring Noto on your own before we commence our return.
After a 12-hour adventure, we'll conclude the Syracuse and Noto tour by dropping you back off at the meeting point in Taormina.
