Explore the Estonian capital and be amazed by its medieval monuments with this private tour of Tallinn. We'll explore the historic centre of the Baltic city.
Tour Details
After picking you up at the agreed place, we'll start our tour by visiting the Toompea: the upper part of Tallinn's historic centre. In this area of the city, a World Heritage Site, we'll see the impressive Toompea Castle, the gothic-style towers and the narrow streets of the city centre.
We'll walk along the two main streets, curiously called Long Leg and Short Leg. We'll see Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. This orthodox temple was built during the time when Estonia belonged to the Russian Empire. We'll have an overview of this period as we approach the Parliament building. Once there, we'll discover how the Estonian political system works.
In the lower part of the city, we'll head to the Tallinn City Hall and the oldest pharmacy in Northern Europe. When was it inaugurated? We'll also pass the Pikk Hermann Tower, popularly known as ‘the big Hermann’. The Estonian national flag flies permanently from the top of the watchtower, which is hoisted daily at dawn after the playing of the Estonian national anthem.
We'll continue our route to the Hellemann Tower, the old defence wall of almost 200 metres (656 ft) that connects with the Munkadetagune Tower. There, we'll be able to visit its highest part and walk along its defensive walls while having one of the best views of Tallinn.
Finally, we'll end our 3-hour private tour of Tallinn's Old Town by heading to the Viru Gate or the Town Hall.
