Puerto Grau, Ite Wetlands & Tacahuay Hills Day Trip
Puerto Grau, Ite Wetlands & Tacahuay Hills Day Trip
Once we've picked you up at 8 am from your hotel in Tacna, we'll set off on the 40-minute drive to the first destination of the day.
On the way there, we'll make a few stops to explore the attractions along the way. These will include the Boca de Rio seaside resort, which is famous for its rock and sand pools, and the Burros Gorge. We'll take a 30-minute walk in this last spot so you can see some of the greenery and take lots of pictures.
When we get to Puerto Grau, the most important coastal port town in this part of Peru, we'll walk to the Sundial. This clock has been used by local Indigenous communities to measure the passage of time. We'll learn all about how this unique stone contraption works and how its circles reflect the sunlight and mark the hours of the day.
We'll hop back on the bus and head to the Ite Wetlands. This area's lagoons and wetlands are home to over 140 species of birds, such as flamingos, Andean ducks, macaws and seagulls.
After exploring this amazing natural area, we'll make a stop in Ite so you can have lunch at your leisure. Our next stop will be the Tacahuay Hills, a protected area with striking scenery due to the mist, where we'll go on a walk.
You'll then be dropped back off at your hotel at 4 pm.
