Moquegua Day Trip
Moquegua Day Trip
At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Tacna. We'll then set off on the 2-hour drive to the city of Moquegua.
When we get there, we'll go on a walking tour of this southeastern Peruvian city. We'll discover how the city dates back to long before the Incas and is home to typical colonial mansions that display Hispanic architecture and decoration.
During our tour, we'll pass by spots such as the Plaza de Armas. In the centre of this square, we'll spot a fountain that was brought over from Paris. We'll also visit the Contisuyo Museum, which houses an important collection of objects from the Wari and Tiwanaku cultures, such as pieces of pottery, gold and silver.
Next, we'll enter the Church of Santo Domingo, which became the main temple or Matiz Church after the colonial-era cathedral was destroyed in an earthquake. The remains of Saint Fortunata, which were brought over from the Vatican, are laid to rest inside the church.
Afterwards, we'll go to the Cristo Blanco Viewpoint to admire incredible views of Moquegua. We'll then take you to a restaurant so you can have lunch at your leisure and sample some of Moquegua's varied gastronomy.
We'll reconvene and head to a wine and pisco cellar, as well as a macerados cellar to try some of this fruit and syrup liqueur.
Our day trip will then come to an end as we return to Tacna and drop you off at your hotel at 5 pm.
