Tacna and Campo de la Alianza Tour
Tacna and Campo de la Alianza Tour
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Tacna at the time of your choice to start this tour in which we'll see the city from a historical point of view.
The tour will start with a visit to the Municipal Theater, a building from 1870 that served as a field hospital during the famous Battle of Tacna (aka Battle of the Peak of the Alliance), which pitted the Peruvian army, supported by the Bolivians, against the Chilean troops in 1880.
Then we'll go to the Casa de la Jurídica, where the act of surrender of Tacna to Peru was signed by the Chileans after the battle. We'll also visit the house of Francisco Antonio de Zela, one of the leaders of the independence of Peru.
Next, we'll pass by the house of Jorge Basadre Growman, chronicler of the history of Tacna, and then we'll take a bus to the emblematic Campo de la Alianza, where the Peruvians and Chileans fought for control of the city.
After visiting Campo de la Alianza, we'll head to the Museum of Arms to learn about the importance of this battle and, finally, we'll visit the Campo Santo, where a marble cross with a poem by Jorge Basadre and Jimenez Borja stands.
After a 3-hour tour, we'll take you back to your hotel in Tacna.
