Just a 12-minute ferry ride from Sydney's city centre is Taronga Zoo, an enclosure where you'll find over 4,000 animals from all over the world. You'll get the chance to meet the adorable Australian koalas and learn about the exotic species that live here.
Taronga Zoo is divided into nine different sectors. As you wander through them you'll travel to all continents without leaving Sydney. Giraffes, birds, meerkats, reptiles and even red pandas.
From the moment you arrive, you can embark on an authentic safari with some of the most exotic animals on the planet. You'll also find an incredible aviary where you'll be amazed by the striking colours of Australian birds.
You'll also be fascinated by the reptile area and, of course, you can't leave without seeing iconic Australian animals such as kangaroos and koalas.
The zoo has a comprehensive programme of exhibitions, such as the wildlife exhibition, where you'll discover how species endemic to Australia interact with their natural environment. Without a doubt, it's the ideal place to learn about the animal world, spend a day surrounded by nature and enjoy views of Sydney Harbour in the background.
