The Sydney sightseeing bus (Big Bus Tour) is a comfortable and convenient way to get around the city. This open-top, double decker bus tours the iconic sights of Australia's most cosmopolitan city. You can hop on and off at any of the stops to explore the city at your leisure.
Sydney Tourist Bus
This sightseeing bus follows 2 different routes that last 1 hour and 30 minutes, with more than 33 stops located near the main tourist attractions of Sydney. Throughout the journey, enjoy pre-recorded commentary in English about the places you visit.
Discover the city's essential sights on the red line. You'll appreciate the mix of architectural styles that make Sidney so eclectic. The blue route introduces you to the Australian beach and surf culture, as it connects the city to the legendary Bondi Beach.
Some unmissable stops are the world-famous Opera House, the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Tower, the tallest building in the city.

Sightseeing Boat
When booking, you can choose the combined ticket which includes a boat ride for a different perspective of the city. During the tour, you can relax on board while listening to recorded commentary on the highlights of Sydney and the surrounding area. You'll have spectacular views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House, stunning bays, hidden beaches, islands, national parks, towering headlands, the city skyline, botanical gardens and the luxurious homes of the rich and famous.
The sightseeing cruise departs from Sydney Harbour and makes the following stops: Circular Quay, Taronga Zoo, Shark Island, Watsons Bay and Manly.
Boat Schedule
- Monday to Friday: departures at 9:05 am, 11 am, 12:20 pm, 2:15 pm and 4:10 pm
- Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays: departures at 9:15 am, 10:32 am, 11:55 am, 2:35 pm, 3:50 pm and 5:05 pm
How Does it Work?
The ticket is valid for 1 or 2 consecutive days from the time it's first used. During this time you can hop on and off the buses as many times as you like to see Sydney's most iconic sights.
If you opt for the combined ticket that includes the boat trip, with this boarding pass, you can use the cruise for 48 hours from its first use, allowing you to get on and off the boat at any of its stops during that period.
Timetable and Frequency
- Red line (city tour): Thursday to Monday from 9 am to 4 pm, every 30 minutes. The last bus leaves from stop 1 at 3:30 pm. The full tour lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes.
- Blue Line (Bondi Beach Tour): Thursday to Monday 9:30 am to 3:15 pm, every 45 or 60 minutes. The last bus departs from stops 12 and 24 at 2:45 pm.
- Sightseeing boat: daily from 8:45 am from Darling Harbour (Aquarium Wharf). The last departure is at 3:24 pm from Darling Harbour (Aquarium Wharf). The full tour lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Temporary Closures and Timetables
Until further notice, the Sydney Sightseeing Bus will only operate on the Red Line once every 2 hours.
