Sutatausa Hiking Tour

When booking, you can choose between two different hiking routes. Both start in the main park of Sutatausa at 8 am and finish at 4 pm:

Medium Difficulty Hiking Route

Do you want a route of an intermediate level of difficulty? This 9 km (5.5 miles) hike is ideal for you. We'll first walk through the centre of Sutatausa visiting the church of San Juan Bautista, whose origins date back to the 17th century. We'll talk about how this place became an important meeting point between the indigenous Muisca people and the Spanish colonisers.

Afterwards, we'll move away from the centre of the town to start walking in the surrounding mountains. We'll take the path called Camino Real and, after two hours of hiking through lush vegetation, we'll arrive at the cliffs of Sutatausa. We'll explain how these curious rock formations were formed millions of years ago while enjoying an incredible panoramic view of the Ubaté valley at an altitude of 2750 metres (9022 feet).

We'll leave you two hours free for lunch and, having regained your strength, we'll start our way back to the starting point.

High-Difficulty Hiking Route

If you choose this option, we'll do a 7-kilometre (4.3 miles) route, but the level of difficulty will be higher as we'll reach an altitude of 3,200 metres (10,4987 feet). Once we get to know the centre of Sutatausa, we'll take the path to go up the Curuta mountain. We'll observe the local wildlife and, of course, we'll also see the cliffs.
