Options
When making your booking, you'll be able to choose from the two options described below. Both include pick up and drop off at your hotel, transport by minibus and an English-speaking guide. You can check out the details of both activities below:
Half-Day Tour
At your chosen time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Sucre and drive to the Quechua village of Tarabuco. On the way, we'll look out at the arid landscapes of the Bolivian plains.
Did you know that Tarabuco is famous in Bolivia for its traditional market? Dozens of families belonging to the Yampara Indigenous community, which has Quechua origins, come to the market every Sunday to sell their products.
Alongside the colourful traditional clothing worn by the Yampara, another historic form of trade still survives here: bartering. We'll discover this ancient custom and numerous other traditional characteristics during our day trip.
We'll stroll through the market and browse the shops selling food, textiles and handicrafts while learning about the origins and history of the Yampara civilization.
Having spent 4 hours in Tarabuco, we'll return to Sucre.
Full-Day Tour
If you'd prefer to spend more time in Tarabuco, you can choose the full-day tour. After we've picked you up from your hotel in Sucre, we'll set off on the 1-hour 30-minute drive to Tarabuco.
We'll arrive at the Tarabuco Market, which is attended by people from the Yampara Indigenous community. Welcome to one of the most colourful places in the world! During your visit you'll see how Yampara families, dressed in their traditional clothing, come here every Sunday.
Here, they buy, sell and exchange local products and handicrafts. Once we've finished browsing the stalls, we'll stop at a local restaurant to get our energy back. We'll have lunch there, which will consist of a starter, main course and dessert.
Our 6-hour excursion will then come to an end as we arrive back in Sucre. See you next time!
