Isola Bella & Isola dei Pescatori Tourist Boat
Isola Bella & Isola dei Pescatori Tourist Boat
Want to visit two of the most emblematic islands of Lake Maggiore? To do so, a tourist boat will be waiting for you at the pier in Piazza Guglielmo Marconi. Setting sail, we'll leave Stresa behind and start making our way to Isola Superiore, better known as Isola dei Pescatori, meaning 'Fishermen's Island.'
Once we arrive, you'll be able to stroll through the narrow streets of the old fishing village until you reach the Church of San Vittore, the most important monument on the island. During your visit, you'll also find plenty of bars and restaurants where you can sample the delicious local cuisine.
After visiting Isola dei Pescatori, you can return to the boat and go to Isola Bella, the most beautiful of the Borromean archipelago. Unlike the previous stop, here you won't find a traditional village, but a fairytale-like town with pretty gardens full of fountains and flowers.
Do you know the origin of the name Isola Bella? The answer lies in its Baroque palace built by order of Charles III Borromeo in honor of his wife Isabella. You can visit it on your own and get to know its elegant halls, where you'll be struck by its extravagant ornamentation.
The last stop of the tourist boat will take you to Stresa, after which the boat can take you back to Isola dei Pescatori, if you wish.
