Free Walking Tour of Strasbourg
Free Walking Tour of Strasbourg
We'll meet up at the scheduled time and from here, we'll begin our free walking tour of the centre of Strasbourg, capital of the Alsace region and the first city in France to have had its old town declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
A true jewel of late Gothic style, Strasbourg's Notre-Dame Cathedral was inspired by the cathedrals of Chartres, Paris and Reims. While we admire its impressive façade, our guide will reveal the legends surrounding this historic church, which dates back more than 1000 years.
We'll continue our stroll through Strasbourg and cross over the Ill, the river that surrounds the Grande-Île, the island on which the city's historic centre is located. After passing the city's main monuments, we'll delve into Strasbourg's past as we explore the German Quarter. This is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the history and culture of the Alsatian capital!
During the free tour, we'll walk around some of Strasbourg's most famous squares including Place Gutenberg, Place de la République and Place Kléber. Our guide will also take us to see some of the city's less well-known but equally charming places of interest!
Our free walking tour of Strasbourg will come to an end back in front of the Cathedral after between 1 hour and 45 minutes and 2 hours.
