Uppsala Private Day Trip from Stockholm

Let's start our day right as we pick you up from your hotel in central Stockholm and kick start an exciting day trip to Uppsala! Fun fact: this city was formerly the site of royal coronations and funerals, lending more to its historical legacy.

Upon arriving in Sweden's 4th largest city, we'll make our first stop of the day at the Uppsala Cathedral. This building, constructed in 1273 is the largest cathedral in Scandinavia. Another fun fact: the Swedish archbishop's seat is found here.

After a 30-minute exploration at the cathedral, we'll head to Gamla Uppsala to visit the Viking-era archaeological site in Old Uppsala. Here, we'll be treated to an hour of free time to explore the grounds. See immense burial mounds and gain deeper insight into Sweden's Viking past. Plus, take advantage of the on-site museum to enhance your experience further.

Additionally, here we can see Anders Celsius' grave, the inventor of the temperature scale, and other significant historical figures buried here. Bet you didn't know this archaeological site is considered one of the most important early settlements in Swedish history.

Following the archaeological site visit, we'll head to Uppsala Castle, a 16th-century structure where we'll learn about the dark Sture murders from long ago. Enjoy 1-hour of free time at the castle and soak up the storied past in its walls. Plus, we'll allow you some free time to grab lunch at any of the local restaurants nearby.

Next up, our final stop is at Uppsala University. The main university building was constructed in 1887 in the neoclassical style. We'll enjoy a 20-minute visit, where we'll delve into the university's rich history dating back to 1477.

Then, after 7 hours immersed in Sweden's rich and storied past, we'll bring you back to your hotel in Stockholm, and the day to an end.
