Free Walking Tour of Stockholm
Free Walking Tour of Stockholm
Meet your guide at 10 am in Gustav Adolfs torg, in front of Stockholm's beautiful Royal Opera House. From here, you'll begin your free walking tour of the Gamla stan, the city's Old Town. As you take in the historic architecture surrounding you, you'll travel back in time to the Viking era, discovering why these swarthy Nordic sailors decided to build a capital city here.
Admire the most important places of interest in the island-district, learning all about Stockholm's legendary history, and how this shaped Sweden's culture today. Witness the German influence in the city stopping to see the German Church; discover how Riddarholmen, or "The Knights' Islet" got its name; and spot the smallest statue in Stockholm, known as "The Iron Boy".
Explore the picturesque narrow streets of Gamla stan, including Mårten Trotzigs gränd, the narrowest street in the city, and see how they contrast to the enormous Stockholm Royal Palace. You'll wander through Stortorget, a public square characterised by its colourful historic buildings, and see the city's most iconic statues, like George and the Dragon and the Karl XIV Johans sculpture. You'll feel like true experts of Stockholm's vibrant Old Town by the end of your two and a half hour tour!
