If you're in Stavanger and craving a natural adventure check out this hike to Kjerag, Norway's iconic hanging rock, and take in some breathtaking views!

Kjerag Hiking Tour

We'll pick you up from your hotel at the scheduled time and set off on a 1-hour bus ride along the stunning fjord shores of the Ryfylke region for our Kjerag hiking tour.

Upon arriving at Kjeragbolten base camp, we'll prepare our equipment and clothing for the hike. Following the guide's instructions, we'll set off on a 2-3 hour walk with short breaks along the way.

Our hiking route will lead us to Kjerag, the iconic hanging rock. Once we reach the edge of the plateau, perched 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) above sea level, we'll be treated to spectacular views of the 42-kilometer-long (26-mile) fjord.

After conquering the summit and soaking in the breathtaking views, we'll start our 2 to 3-hour return journey. If the weather conditions are on our side, we’ll take a brief detour to reveal a hidden gem that offers a unique view of the fjord!

Finally, we’ll head back and take a break at a restaurant where you can enjoy lunch. Then, with newfound energy, we’ll make our way to Stavanger, arriving about 9 hours after our departure.

Difficulty level

This hiking activity in Kjerag is suitable for those in good physical condition, as it involves an 11-kilometer (6.8-mile) route with walking and climbing up to 800 meters (2,624 feet).
