On this boat trip around Montagna Spaccata and Monte Orlando, we'll sail along the Ulysses Riviera and visit two of the great natural wonders of the coast of Gaeta.
Description
At the indicated time we'll meet at the port of Sperlonga to set course for Montagna Spaccata and the marine protected area of Monte Orlando. Ready for a boat trip along the Ulysses Riviera? All aboard!
As soon as you leave the port, you'll come across a beautiful view of the Grotta di Tiberio, a majestic villa adorned with mythological statues.
We'll continue along via Flacca, a coastal road with medieval towers and natural caves. On our way, we'll reach Blue Grotto, one of the area's unspoilt bays. We'll stop there for half an hour for a swim in its refreshing crystal-clear waters and to do some snorkelling.
Following that, we'll continue our cruise around Gaeta until we reach the famous Montagna Spaccata, a geological formation on which the Sanctuary of the Santissima Trinità was built. We'll observe this monument from the boat, and then sail through the caves at the foot of the cliff, including the Turk's Grotto.
The last stop will be at Pozzo del Diavolo, located in the marine area of Monte Orlando. There you'll also have time for swimming and snorkelling to discover the underwater wonders of this protected area.
On the way back to Sperlonga, you can satisfy your appetite after the swim with a slice of pizza, which you'll savour as we make our way to the port.
Arrival is scheduled 4.5 hours after departure.
