Marsaxlokk and Blue Grotto Trip
Marsaxlokk and Blue Grotto Trip
We'll collect you from your hotel before heading towards the remote southeastern tip of Malta.
Our first stop is the small fishing village of Marsaxlokk. Strolling along the waterfront you'll encounter the traditional Luzzu fishing vessels decorated in vibrant colours. If you look closely at the bows of these boats, you'll see a pair of eyes that derive from an ancient Phoenician custom and are believed to protect the fishermen in the ocean.
After exploring the port area, you'll have your own free time to visit the popular Marsaxlokk Market at your own pace. Traditionally this is where, every Sunday, the fishermen sell their catch. However, there are also many other stalls selling artisan products, clothing, and tourist souvenirs.
Later, we'll stop in the township of Qrendi to see its extraordinary parish church, narrow winding lanes and famous band clubs.
In the afternoon, we then move on to the picturesque 'Wied Iz-Zurrieq harbour. Here, we'll catch a boat (not included € 8 (US$ 8.34)) which will take us to one of the most beautiful spots on the island, the Blue Grotto. These spectacular sea caves have featured in various famous Hollywood films, such as 'Troy' starring Brad Pitt.
Our journey around the Blue Grotto finished back at the Wied iz-Zurrieq docks, where we then begin our return trip to your hotel.
