Helicopter Ride over Skaftafell (30 minutes)
Meet at Öræfi 785 at the designated time to set off on an exciting 30-minute helicopter ride over Skaftafell. The pilot will provide insights into the route, and then we'll take to the skies!
Experience breathtaking views of Skaftafell National Park, home to Iceland's glaciers and volcanoes. Witness the might of Öræfajökull, one of the country's most powerful craters, and soar over Mount Hvannadalshnjúkur, standing tall at an impressive 2110 meters (6,922 feet)—the highest peak in Iceland.
After the thrilling helicopter flight, we'll head back to the meeting point.
Helicopter Ride over Lakagigar (75 minutes)
Opt for a longer adventure with a 75-minute helicopter ride over part of Vatnajökull National Park, specifically the Laki or Lakagigar crater chain. Gain a unique perspective of Iceland's largest volcanic crater chain during the journey.
Soar westward over the great ice cap of Skeiðarárjökull, one of Vatnajökull's many outlet glaciers—the largest glacier in Europe! Gradually approach Lakagigar, witnessing the immense row of volcanic craters stretching across the horizon—a result of one of history's largest volcanic eruptions.
On the return journey, fly over the Súlutindar peaks, showcasing glacier-carved formations. Continue southeast along the rim of Skeiðarárjökull, providing a mesmerizing panoramic view that'll leave you in awe.
After 75 minutes of exploration, return to the Skaftafell terminal, concluding this remarkable helicopter ride over Lakagigar.
