This wealthy Brazilian-born figure ordered the construction of a unique house, which combines Romanesque, Gothic and Manueline styles.
Among its main attractions is its enigmatic initiation well, an inexhaustible source of a multitude of mysteries and legends. The Torre da Regaleira tower and the chapel of the Holy Trinity, built in white stone in the Manueline style, also stand out.
The Italian architect and set designer Luigi Manini captured the eccentricities, cultural concerns and secrets of Carvalho Monteiro in the Quinta da Regaleira. For this reason, you should pay close attention to the layout of the rooms, where certain details go unnoticed.
