    This whole day trip was well planned and the guides did an excellent service and gave so much interesting information on an amazing way. Thank you Sadio and Bruno that you shared us all of the details about places and persons further a lot of the history of Portugal and the cities we were. The bus driver must also get many thanks for his excellent job as driving through the small streets and serpentine roads up and down the hill by Sintra to the palace. I recommend this tour for everyone!

Did you know...

Pena Palace on Sintra's hill was originally a monastery, whose construction was ordered by King Manuel I in the early 16th century. The monastery was largely destroyed by an earthquake in 1755, and eventually abandoned until the site was transformed by King Ferdinand II in the mid-19th century into Europe's first Romantic castle.

How to get there

To reach Pena Palace by public transport, simply take the 434 bus (Circuito da Pena) in front of the Sintra train station. Alternatively, you can hire a taxi or book a transfer to accompany you. In any case, keep in mind that you cannot visit the palace in a private car.

From Lisbon, take the train from Rossio station and get off at Sintra station. From there, you can take the 434 bus (Circuito da Pena) and get off in front of the palace.
